School Year 2016-2017

We are in our twelfth year of on-demand delivery of staff development. In addition to a set menu of courses for which you sign up individually, we are offering a wide range of professional development topics and inviting teachers to be active participants in planning their professional development within their own districts.

Getting Started:
Programs can be initiated by professional development teams, teacher unions, teacher groups, individual teachers and/or school district administrators working with teacher-driven initiatives or faculty study groups. All programs need the approval of the staff development leader within your district and must be aligned with the Regents Reform Agenda.

Professional Development Allotment

As a member of SETC, an allotment of funding has been set aside just for your district to help provide Professional Development opportunities for your teachers. We can locate and hire consultants that are experts in subject areas at your requests as well as schedule workshops to take place in your district all at no cost to you or your teachers.

Traveling Math Academy

SETC will send math experts from the field to your school buildings to work with your teachers after school on understanding the Math Common Core Standards. The workshops can be tailored to fit one hour faculty meetings or two hour curriculum meetings.

Technology Integration

SETC can provide your schools with a technology specialist to help your teachers/administrators integrate technology into their everyday lessons. A specialist will present workshop courses on how to utilize the variety of programs we offer through collaboration with NYIT. Programs include, but are not limited to:

  • Thinkfinity
  • SAS Curriculum Pathways
  • Intel
  • Google Classroom
  • Coding
  • One to One Computing
  • Social Media
  • Google Hangouts
  • Professor Garfield
  • Symbaloo

Collegial Inquiry

The Suffolk's Edge Teacher Center is continuing our successful Collegial Inquiry program. This program is a true example of what job- embedded professional development is all about. If you are interested in establishing a team we can arrange for a consultant to assist you in district. Please contact the center directly for more information.
